Launch of Singapore Alumni Association of Cambodia Uniting Alumni and Fostering Growth

PHNOM PENH: The Singapore Alumni Association of Cambodia (SAAC) had a very successful inaugural launch at the prestigious Himawari Hotel Apartments on the evening of 22 November 2023. This event brought together former students graduated from various educational institutions in Singapore residing in Cambodia and created an excellent platform for networking, collaboration and growth.

Mdm Alicia Lim, the new President of SAAC and Managing Director of Himawari Hotel Apartments, has assumed leadership from Mr. Rath Sophoan, the Founding President of SAAC and CEO of May Bank (Cambodia) PLC. With the commitment of Mdm Alicia Lim and her dedicated newly formed committee, SAAC strives to propel the association to greater heights following the launch.

“The launch of the Singapore Alumni Association of Cambodia holds great significance for both countries. It serves as a bridge between our two nations, fostering mutual understanding, cooperation, and collaborations among alumni who have been fortunate enough to study in Singapore. This initiative not only strengthens the bond between our two nations but also highlights the importance of education as a catalyst for growth and development.” addressed Madam Lim.

The event was graced by distinguished guests of honour with keynote speeches by Mr. Andrew Tay, President of Singapore Chamber in Cambodia, and then esteemed His Excellency Sok Siphana, Senior Minister of the Royal Government of Cambodia.

As a gesture of cultural appreciation and friendship, SAAC presented an artwork by renowned Singaporean artist Mr. Art Foo to Excellency Sok Siphana, while an art piece by a talented Cambodian artist, Mr. Hom Rith, was presented to Mr. Andrew Tay. These art pieces serve to strengthen the bond between Singapore and Cambodia and encourage artistic dialogue between the two nations.

The event also saw two strategic MOU signings between SAAC and Singapore Chamber of Commerce, and SAAC and British Chevening Alumni of Cambodia respectively.
